In Loving Memory of Cheryl Garrison
Cheryl Anne Garrison, Brownsburg, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Barbara Harris on March 16, 1955.
Cheryl lived a life of excellence and courage. As a talented student, she graduated from the IUPUI School of Engineering and Technology. Very few women chose to become engineers in the early 1980’s. After graduation, she worked for 30 years at Rolls Royce as a design engineer and project manager. Upon completion of her successful career, she bought a fishing resort in northern Minnesota. She built that resort into something beautiful. One of the special things she established there was Hero Getaway. This was an annual, one-week affair for veterans, police officers, and first responders. The cabins were free, the fishing was fun, and the daily meals were great. She believed in honoring those who serve, and we saw many people’s lives made better by the healing power of a week on the water. Her prayer for our heroes and every person who set foot on the property was that, through nature, people would see God.
While Cheryl had professional success, her true love was family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Harris, and son Michael Garrison II. She is survived by her father, Robert Harris I, husband of 52 years, Mike, daughter, Tiffany Giles (Brian), and six grandchildren: Taylor Cool (Cam), Jake Giles, Hank Giles, Ella Garrison, Thomas Garrison, and Amelia Garrison. She is also survived by her siblings: Bob Harris II (Linda), Cindy Hale (Tom), and Rick Harris (Lisa).
In lieu of flowers, please consider make a donation in her memory to either Pittsboro United Methodist Church, 227 E. Main St., Pittsboro, IN 46167, or Open Arms Church, 1618 Broad Street, New Castle, IN 47632.
Calling will be from 10:30am to 12pm, Saturday April 19 at the Pittsboro United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held there at 12pm, with burial to follow at the Brownsburg Cemetery.
